ANSWERS

Q1: What is salary when you are qualified and instructing?    top
A1: The average salary of a ski instructor in his first year is approx. 1000,- Euro nett. - which is not bad for the kind of work you do. On average a ski instructor works 6 hours a day, 6 days a week.
The accomodation is provided by ski schools. It is normally very basic but very affordable and in a convenient location in the resort. Some ski schools charge next to nothing for accomodation, other approx. 200,– Euro a month. It all depends on where you want to work.
Q2: How much experience with skiing does an applicant need?   top
A2: The applicant need to be able to ski basic parallel turns on red runs
Q3: How long is the ski season?   top
A3: The ski season is from approx. mid Dec. till mid April
Q4: Do I have to have my own equipment?   top
A4: Yes, you do need your own equipment.  If you do not have your own skis and boots etc. We recommend to buy this out here! If any problems occur with boots or skis you can deal with this straight away. We work together with a sportshop that can give you discount and great deals.
Q5: What is the qualification we receive? Would we be able to work anywhere in Europe or the world? Or is it only recognised within Austria?    top
A5: The Austrian basic qualification (Anwärter) is probably globally the most recognized. But you of course increase your chance of receiving a job abroad with each next level qualification. Once you have reached the 'ISIA' level (International Ski Instructors Association; second qualification/third level) you will most likely have no problems working anywhere worldwide. If you are confident enough with your skiing abilities, you can already take the second level qualification at the end of your first season.
Q6: What is not included in the price?   top
A6: The only thing that is not included is the flight and train fare etc. as well as some money for drinks & lunch and going out.
Q7: I was looking at the dates of the course as was wondering about the snow conditions being that it is so early in the season. As Kaprun is on a glacier does that mean there will be snow so early on?   top
A7: The snow conditions on the glacier in Kaprun are very good from mid Oct. till mid  June.
Q8: How can I pay? Do I need to pay a deposit?   top
A8: You can make a direct bank transfer or pay through PayPal. Because there are limited places available, we ask for a 20% deposit in order to secure your place. If a certain course is fully booked, this will be announced on this web site.
Q9: Where is my accomodation located?  top
A9: Your accomodation is right in Kaprun. Within walking distance from ski lifts and ski busses.
